EPEC Conversations is a platform where we tell human stories of trauma, triumph, and resilience. Dominique "Dom" Reynolds is my college classmate. At 28 she lost her vision in a car accident in what was a series of casual negligence on behalf of the healthcare providers she sought medical attention from.
Since losing her vision Dom has encountered discrimination and has navigated joblessness because of her disability. In the process, she's started hand-making blankets and has launched her digital store. Dominique has learned a lot about herself and the people around her. She sits at the intersection of a lot of identities. As a Black, Queer, person living with a disability, Dom leaves it all on the table in this interview. She shares her reflections on life, love, and navigating trauma after a life-altering event. Her story is one of triumph, resilience, and courage.
